Taking The Challenge
I have decided to take the Julie/Julia Challenge. Its A Lot Of time and money but I feel like I could do it. I have bought the 40th anniversary edition which may be different than the one Julia bought but I'm sure there's not a big difference. I will begin the task tomorrow. I won't be setting a deadline and i will be updating if not every day, every other day. WISH ME LUCK! I'll need it.

I'm set for trying recipes from the book. I was looking for a place to post my questions, potential failure? So, here I am.
ReplyDeleteTonight, I made Chicken Fricassee. It was delicious but I'm sure there were several faux pas along the way.
Braising the onions was questionable, while they braised, they "pooped out" the centers of the onions. Is this supposed to happen?
Also, I had a momentary spastic moment when I boiled the stock to add to the pot, I accidentally put the dry vermouth in (along with the bouquet garni) instead of waiting to put it in AFTER I added the boiling brother to the solution in the pan (sigh) There are a lot of instructions.
I am not new to cooking, I turned 50 last month, have always enjoyed cooking, and feel that I have a pretty good grasp on cooking in general. My ma's French Canadian and growing up we certainly had food on the table that most middle-class American's didn't have.
I'll report after my next adventure.
Sue.
